CITIZEN ATTESA New HAKUTO-R collaboration models echoing the deepest black of the furthest reaches of outer space
A jet-black watch with the theme of the darkness and faint light that pervades space, where the private lunar exploration program "HAKUTO-R" is exploring. The center link of the band is made of crystalline titanium, which expresses the mysterious darkness of space.
The black dial features a crystal pattern created using a mold that resembles crystalline titanium. Small black parts are layered on top of this, creating an expressive monotone with a variety of blacks. A shining silver accent is added to the inside of the end ring, expressing the light that can be seen beyond the darkness.
ispace, founded in 2010, is publicly traded company focusing on lunar exploration and resource development. CITIZEN became a corporate sponsor of the program in 2019. Following the 2023 Mission 1, which obtained valuable data necessary for realizing a lunar landing, CITIZEN will be providing Super Titanium™*1 as a component of the landing legs in the upcoming Mission 2, which is scheduled for launch no earlier than December 2024.
The middle links of the bracelets on all three models are made of recrystallized titanium, a new material with unique crystal patterns on the surface that ensure that no two watches are the same. The mysterious patterns echo the endless black vastness of outer space and the monochromatic dial has three dimensional black crystal patterns accented by numerous small black components, creating a multi-layered structure combining varying shades of black. The city names on the sapphire bezel and the outer ring on the dial provide glittering silver accents, bringing to mind the image of a bright light shining in the darkness.
The HAKUTO-R logo engraved on the case backs makes these limited-edition models truly special timepieces.
